Linda Marsh

Aloha! Thank you for visiting the Bubbles Below website. Ken Bail and I started Bubbles Below in 1983, and we worked to provide divers with a higher quality scuba experience. Since I consider myself a perpetual student, I wanted the charters to be educational, with an adventurous flare. Drift diving is one of my favorite ways to dive, as you can quietly experience your environment without necessarily intruding upon it. Through simple observation, a diver can learn quite a bit about the way marine species behave and interact with each other. Ultimately, my goal is for visitors who experience a dive with Bubbles Below to leave Kauai more knowledgeable about the marine environment than when they arrived.

I find that many divers like to ascend up an anchor line at the end of a dive, however anchors often decimate corals stands, especially after years and years of repeated drops in the exact same location. Because of this, along with seeing the damage of Hurricane Iwa in 1982 and Hurricane Iniki in 1992, I started a mooring project for Kauai as a legacy to the children who would dive here. But moorings are still restrictive on where divers can go, so over the years we developed a way to signal the boat while underwater. Our skilled captains will lower the anchor to our divemasters, and we can carefully set the anchor from the bottom up! This process allows us the freedom to drift dive, while providing a safely set anchor line that virtually eliminates the breakage of corals. Being environmentally conscious should not just be lip service - for us it is a way of living and diving!

I started diving as a child and have been diving ever since. I have a bachelors degree in education from the University of Michigan, and I still use my education skills to inform divers about the marine environment. A NAUI/PADI instructor since 1976 and holding a 100 ton Captains rating, I have been cruising Kauai’s waters since 1980 looking for dive sites that are unique and fun.

Formerly Linda Bail, I now use my maiden name of Marsh. I invite you to come and dive with Bubbles Below Scuba Charters, meet our conscientious crew, fabulous fishes, and incredible invertebrates of Kauai, Hawaii!
